Math1502 Recomended Exercise

 Exercises are from  Calculus by Salas, Hille and Etgen (SHE), ninth edition, and 
 Linear Algebra from the Beginning, by Carlen and Carvalho (CC), 2007 edition.

Section 11.6: 1, 5, 7, 11, 21, 27, 37 (all in SHE)

Section 10.5: 5, 7, 17, 25, 29, 31, 35, 45, 47, 49 (all in SHE)



The Office of Success Programs is offering free 1 to 1 tutoring to all
students in Math1502.  Tutoring is available Monday through Friday from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m.  Each session lasts one hour.  For any questions, their phone

Quizes will be on Tuesdays, starting with Quiz 1 on May 22. Each quiz
covers the material taught in the preceeding week. Quiz problems will be
similar to recommeded exercises or examples given in class.

Quiz 2 on Tuesday May 29 in recitation, covering 10.7, 11.1 and 11.2. 

Section 11.3: 1, 3, 5, 7, 21, 27, 29, 31, 35. 

No Quiz on June 5, but we will have Test 1 on June 7 in recitation. Test 1
should cover 11.1--11.8, 10.5--10.7, and 8.8.

Section 11.7: 3, 8, 11, 12, 24, 25, 26, 28, 41.

Section 8.9 will not be inlcuded on Test 1. For those who will be taking the
test in ADAPTS office, please make sure that you are taking it at the same
time as your recitation class, and have your test delivered to your TAs. 

Solutions to Quizes 1 and 2 are posted; Quiz 1 was worked out by Deng, and
Quiz 2 was worked out  by Huynh. 

Section 8.9: 1, 2, 4, 8. 12, 13, 23.

Note Taker Announcement: A student note taker is needed in this course to
take notes for a student with a disability. The note taker will be paid a stipend for this assignment.
Skills needed are the ability to take accurate, legible, and organized notes
and a commitment to attend every lecture. If interested, please contact Sarah

Midterm progress reports are in. Note that these are not final
grades;  but you should take it seriously. Also note that S stands for
grades A, B or C; and U stands for D and F.

The class average of test 1 is around 24. Those whose test scores are 22 or more are given S, and those with 21 or
less are given U. In certain cases, students with 22 may be given U because
of absence of (or low) quiz grades. Some students with a test grade of 21
may be assgined S due to good performance on quizes.
